Felisha's Story
Overcomer
She was born February 20, 1976 to the late Clifford Balom and late Mattie Pearl Patten. In her early years Felisha landed in an abusive relationship. Felisha was in a battle with herself after two of her siblings passed away not even two years apart. She didn't know how to handle grieving her siblings and she figured her only way out was sucide BUT GOD saved her. This led Felisha to Jesus in her bedroom in April 2016. She told God that she was tired of running from him and finally surrendered to his will for her life. What she realized was that God never left her but she left him and God was waiting on her return. As Felisha was on the floor crying out to God she began to ask him to send her someone that could teach her about him, not just how to save her marriage, not just how to help her children, not even to get the answer on how to increase her finances, she realized at that moment she just needed God and his word. God answered her prayers and sent that person to lead her, guide her, and teach her how communicate with God and pray about the things that were affecting her life. She fell in love with God during that season and she hasn't turned back. Felisha decided to continue to run to God and refuse to look back.

Marriage Healed through God
There was a time when my marriage with Larry was tested in ways I never imagined. We were two people under the same roof, but our hearts felt miles apart. The weight of pain, misunderstandings, past wounds, and spiritual battles began to take its toll. But even in the silence, the arguments, and the brokenness—we were never alone. God’s hand was still at work.
When we couldn’t find the strength to fix things ourselves, we turned to the One who created marriage—God. We began to seek His face like never before. Through prayer, fasting, and immersing ourselves in His Word, we allowed God to go to work on our hearts individually and collectively.
Ezekiel 36:26 says, “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you.” And that’s exactly what He did. God removed our stony hearts and replaced them with hearts that could love again, trust again, forgive again. He reminded us that love is not just a feeling—it’s a covenant, a choice, and a reflection of His love for the church.
Through His Word, He showed us how to communicate with grace, to forgive with sincerity, and to honor one another as husband and wife.
Joel 2:25 became our promise: “I will restore to you the years that the locust has eaten.”
God didn’t just patch things up—He restored and renewed our love to be stronger, deeper, and more purposeful than before. He gave us beauty for ashes and turned our mourning into joy. Our marriage is now a testimony of what happens when two people surrender their will and allow God to take the lead.
Today, Larry and I walk together in unity, purpose, and peace—not because we are perfect, but because we serve a perfect God who is faithful to heal, redeem, and restore.
If you are believing God for restoration in your own marriage—don’t give up. Invite God in. Let His Word lead. Healing is possible. Restoration is real. And with God, all things are possible (Matthew 19:26).

My Healing from my Brokenness
We are a broken people, am I right? Each of us come from various backgrounds and upbringings that shape our character and struggles.
